Res Ipsa Productions is dedicated to producing independent plays and films which provoke thought and controversy. Its name is derived from the legal latin phrase, Res Ipsa Loquitor (which means "the thing speaks for itself.") Res Ipsa simply means "the thing itself". We view films and plays as an avenue to speak to our audience, whether it be to inform or to entertain. We will always speak from the heart and in what we believe, no matter who we may offend. Founded in 1998 by two California attorney's, Marc Wasserman and David Cohen, Res Ipsa was formed by these childhood buddies in hopes of making movies. Due to various technical factors the films would have to wait. Res Ipsa's first production was the play, TERMINAL, which enjoyed a successful run at the McCadden Place Theater in Hollywood in 1999. From there they went on to produce a variety of short films and documentaries which include, The Verdict, How to Make a Halloween Party Happen, Five Minutes in the Life of Mackenzie MacDoodle, Another Five Minutes in the Life of Mackenzie MacDoodle, Al Goes to Jail, The Chips are Down, The Scene & New York...Ohhhh New York. Finally, in October 2004, after 3 1/2 years of pre-production, Res Ipsa shot their first Feature Film, Terminal, in seven days. Rounding out Res Ipsa Productions are Cyndi "Love" Kemp, Benny and Fern Wasserman. Cohen & Wasserman are currently hitting the Film Festival circuit having been selected to a variety of festivals in the past several months, winning various Awards and Nominations. We are proud to announce that Res Ipsa has struck a deal with Executive Producer John K. Kim. Kim will Exec Produce COMMUTE, a feature film based on Wasserman's award winning screenplay. Kim also runs his own Law Office practicing Workers Compensation Defense for Warner Brothers and also handles criminal and civil matters - www.johnkimlaw.com |
